About

“My mum asked me to fix her Google listing. I accidentally started a company.”

The Sunday lunch that became a startup

My mum has run the same little flower shop for twenty years. Ask anyone on her street and they will tell you she is the best in town. Ask Google, and for years it shrugged, filed her under “gift shop”, and sent the bouquet orders to a worse florist two streets away.

Her opening hours were from a different decade. The listed phone number belonged to a fax machine that died in 2011. An AI assistant kept telling people she was permanently closed, which was news to the customers standing in the shop holding actual flowers.

So I did what every son with a laptop does at Sunday lunch: I promised to fix it that evening. That evening became eleven tools, four logins, three spreadsheets, and a very long argument with a chatbot that refused to believe the shop existed.

27local is the thing I wish I had that night. One place that finds what is broken, fixes what it can, and explains the rest in words my mum would actually use. She is customer number one. She still calls it “the website thing”. She has never once opened a dashboard, and that is the whole point.

Our mission, said out loud

Help every small business get found, trusted, and chosen, without buying a stack of tools or waiting months for an agency roadmap. There are a lot of mums out there being beaten by worse competitors with better categories. We are picking a fight with that.

How we build (the mum rules)

  • The mum test

If she cannot use it between two customers on a Tuesday, it is not finished. Dashboards do not count as finished.

  • Start with the truth

A free audit comes first. Clear scores and next steps beat vanity charts that make everyone feel busy.

  • One operating system

Website, rankings, reviews, and AI visibility should live together, not in five logins and a group chat called “SEO??”.

  • Built for real businesses

Local owners and agencies get the same clarity: what matters this week, and what to do next. No 40-page PDF.

Our space

Step into HQ. It is a kitchen table.

No Chelsea loft. No ping-pong table. A flower shop, a laptop, and whoever walks in asking why Google still thinks we are a gift shop.

The flower shop that started all of this
Headquarters: a kitchen table and a laptop
The shop from the street, still easier to find in person than online
Customer number one, unimpressed by dashboards

There are two of us at the restaurant, so nobody here had time to learn SEO. 27local told us in plain words what was missing on our Google profile, rebuilt our page, and now we come up first when someone searches for a restaurant in our street. Saturdays are fully booked again.
